VISUAL MOODBOARDING
Very early in the project we used visual mood boards as a design technique to establish a style, theme, expression of the end product. The goal was to:
- Create a common visual language
- Translate ideas and concepts that can be difficult to explain only with words
- Cut down on time spent revising work due to misunderstandings or miscommunication
Role: Design Lead
Responsibilities: Co-facilitator
The collective collaboration with this exercise helped bring different and strongly opinionated team members on the same page. Everyone from developers to stakeholders were involved.
We started off with style boards as anchor points picking and choosing from it to create our own inspiration boards.
An inspiration board usually does not have an apparent style in the beginning. It serves to gather ideas quickly from which to create an underlying style.
Each team member then explain their inspiration boards which then get voted on to bring about the visual language we all agree on.
